What exactly would you consider a Lucid Dream? I have heard of differing descriptions of this, but I definitely have experienced some real bizarre types of dreams.  Dying and coming out of the body while I look at my own body.  Astral projection maybe?  Waking to find no one home and wondering why the lights don't work?  Abductions? Then waking to find myself in my bed again with the same dilemma several times over again.  Visions where I could control another's actions. Dark sleep with no dreams, whilst I could not open my eyes. ( Thought I was dead! )  Spinning on my bed in circles while defying the laws of nature.  Prophetic messages and dreams warning me of dangers to come. Yes! The list goes on! I still believe there are reasonable explanations to all of these things though.

Usually what people mean by "lucid dreaming" is that the dreamer is aware of the fact that he's dreaming throughout the dream. Sometimes the dreamer can also choose what he wants to dream about. It's like filming a movie as you're watching it.

I have had lucid dreams my entire life. I never even knew what it was called until I looked it up about a year ago because I was tired of it happening. That's when I found out people actually want to lucid dream. I assure anyone who wants to that it sucks if it happens all the time. I just want to have normal dreams like everyone else.

    Quite a few.

One of the most lucid was where my Spiritual Teacher came to me and some other disciples. We were a small group, all known to me, sitting at the Master's feet. When he was leaving, he suddenly came back, smiled at me, and touched me on the head. I went into a deep meditative state similar to what I have in real life, only it was much deeper. I awoke with the same peace.

I've had lucid dreams all my life and in most I can control the dream situations.

I haven't had them my whole life, but even before I knew what they were I was having them.

It started when I had a dream that I was exploring an old basement full of antiques. I woke up before I had a chance to finish snooping through the "stuff" I'd dreamt up, so every night for the next week I just thought about it and picked right up where I left off.

Now I only have non-lucid dreams when I'm very over-tired or on NyQuill.
